- What does TS 007 3-star actually mean for a euro cylinder?
TS 007 is a BSI Kitemark scheme for cylinders and protective door furniture. A 3-star cylinder is tested against snapping and other attacks, You can also achieve 3-star security by pairing a 1-star cylinder with a 2-star security handle. Look for the Kitemark and star(s) on the product.
- How do I measure a euro cylinder correctly?
Remove the fixing screw, slide out the cylinder and measure from the centre of the screw hole to each end to get the internal/external lengths (e.g., 35/45). The two numbers should equal the overall length. Avoid overhang beyond the escutcheon on the external side.
- What is BS EN 1303 and why does it matter?
BS EN 1303 classifies cylinder performance, including key-related security (Grades 1-6) and attack resistance. Higher grades indicate stronger resistance to picking/drilling.. It’s a useful comparator alongside TS 007.
- Should I choose a thumbturn or double-key cylinder?
